Timeline Of The Flute
1320- A one piece wooden flute has been created and it was 2 feet long. This flute only had the key of "D"
1511- The one piece wooden flute had become narrower and also had 6 holes that had been carved into the wood. 1529- The alto, tenor, and bass versions had appeared 1600- Around the 16th century the fifes became quiet popular. This was a small shrilly flute that was often used in military bands. 1636- The "D" and "G"keys had appeared and there was also a new cylindrical bore that was made up of wood. 1670- A three piece flute in the key of "D" had appeared in the Jean Baptise Lully's famous orchestra. With all the changes that have happened to the flute the key's have been moved closer together and there is smaller finger holes 1720- The middle joint of the flute was divided up into two and had also got two keys added to it 1722- A famous flutist named Quantz had added a tuning cork that was placed on the head joint. There was also a C sharp key placed on the foot joint 1726- An E-flat key was added to the foot joint 1774- The G sharp,B-flat, and f keys were added 1782- Maker J.H Ribock had chosen to add a closed C key 1800- A B flat lever and a left hand lever were added to the flute 1808- Rev. Fredrick nolan had invented open holes on the flute 1810- George Miller started making metal bores 1812- Tebaldo Monzani put a knob on the mouth piece 1822- The Nicholson which was a son and a father had made a thinner flute and adjusted the keys 1827- Rudall and Rose started making 8 keyed flutes which ended up being very popular |
